United Airlines: Bad baggage handling, aging fleet
|
Apr 29, 2008 United Airlines complaint by Happycake |
On March 4th, I boarded a connecting flight to Washington DC, where I was supposed to connect to Zurich Switzerland. The airplanes intereior was in a terrible state. Then the captain announced that the plane had a leak and needed to be fixed before we could leave. I decided at that point to disembark the aircraft.
Obviously, they didn't have time to give me back my bag. But I expected they would return it to me on the next flight back to LaGuardia, or hold it for me in DC before I arrived for my next scheduled flight to Zurich.
What happened was that they sent the bag to Zurich, then never sent it back to me, instead it made its way around Europe and finally rested in Chicago (United's baggage hub) on March 12th.
Since then, I've been calling trying to get them to send me the bag, but none of the agents I spoke with were actually able to get the bag sent back to me or to LaGuardia.
They made me send in a document where I had to list everything in the bag and its "cost" (please note "cost" and replacement value are totally different, and in cases where a company has lost the stuff you have put in their care, it is NORMAL and fair to be reimbursed for replacement value -- not cost.)
Because of this I was not able to enjoy the remainder of the ski season (it was my snowboard bag that had been mis-routed).
They have not offered any other sort of compensation... Not a ticket, not money, nothing.
I can't wait to get started on this documentary series. If you are also a disgrntled customer of Aunited Airlines, by all means look me up... I'm happycake on virb.com.
